BCP

Border Control Point. A designated EU customs facility set up to carry out food safety checks on third country shipments arriving in the EU and inspect inbound goods, such as high risk animal products or plant products. The UK has a number of facilities that conformed to EU standards. More recent facilities have been built since Brexit, but given the divergence that has occurred on border food safety checks under BTOM, the fact that these facilities are often referred to as BCPs should not be taken as an indication of compliance, let alone conformity. Inland food inspection facilities such as Sevington, for instance, would struggle to gain accreditation, which is awarded by the European Commission.
